'The parable of the Good Samaritan, told by Jesus in Luke 10, is one of the most graphic and poignant stories he taught through. It embodies everything we should live by - mercy, kindness, compassion, generosity, goodness, self-sacrifice... love. It's so easy to pass by the people that make us uncomfortable on the street. Yet we are told not to forget about them - in fact we are told to work to meet their needs. I hope that Samaritan Road can become a declaration of Christian belief - yet I hope even more that we as Christians will work to live up to its' standard - and that we would work to break the often negative stereotypes that Christians are labelled with - after decades of being labelled for what we are against, how about working so that we are labelled with what we are 'for' - mercy, kindness, compassion, generosity, goodness, self-sacrifice... love...
